What Is Coolsculpting?

Coolsculpting is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that helps contour your body by reducing fat cells in the targeted area. Years ago, scientists at Harvard University observed that some children who ate popsicles got dimples in their cheeks. The scientists: Dieter Manstein, MD and R. Rox Anderson, realized that the popsicles were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells. This idea that cold can target fat cells, without damaging skin or surrounding tissue, was the basis of cryolipolysis. Which is also known as “fat freezing” or by the product name CoolSculpting.

During & After the Procedure

A vacuum applicator is placed on the skin to bring it into contact with cooling panels. The patient feels a cold sensation for a few minutes as it produces an anesthetic effect. The fat is cooled for up to an hour. In the following weeks, your body naturally process the fat and eliminates dead cells. Coolsculpting results are long term, because the treated fat cells are gone.
